SGMA Donates $2K to Little League

SAIPAN. Another of Saipan’s sports organizations has benefited from a generous donation from the Saipan Garment Manufacturers Association (SGMA). Congressman Anthony Camacho, a long-time supporter of the Saipan Little League and former manager of teams since 1975 accepted a $2,000 check on behalf of the sports organization.

SGMA Director Richard Pierce said his organization was happy to be able to help develop the youth of Saipan through this and other donations that have been made to benefit the Little League, the Youth Basketball League, CNMI Boxing Association, the NMI Canoe Federation, and last weekend’s Red Cross Walkathon. "We believe that these healthy activities help provide character building opportunities for our CNMI youth," he said.

The funds donated by SGMA for the Little League will be used to help several needy teams purchase baseballs and other equipment, according to Congressman Camacho.
